To ensure your confidence during your IELTS test, IELTS has introduced the IELTS One Skill Retake option. If you feel that you didn’t demonstrate your full potential in one of the four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking) on the test day, IELTS One Skill Retake provides an opportunity to retake IELTS writing only if required.
You have the freedom to select any test center offering the IELTS One Skill Retake for your convenience.
Currently, the IELTS One Skill Retake is accessible in Australia, and its availability will be gradually extended to other regions worldwide during the course of 2023.
According to reports, starting from March 2023, students in India will have the option to retake a specific component of the IELTS if they did not achieve their desired score on their initial attempt. This new policy allows for targeted improvement by focusing on the particular skill that needs enhancement.
IELTS One Skill Retake
IELTS One Skill Retake is designed to boost the confidence of test takers and allow them to improve their English language proficiency by retaking any of the four sections: reading, writing, listening, or speaking. To be eligible for the IELTS One Skill Retake, you must have recently completed the test on a computer and received your IELTS test score from a valid test center.
It is important to note that you must schedule your IELTS One Skill Retake within 60 days of your original test date to meet the requirements.
The IELTS One Skill Retake maintains the same structure and duration as the regular IELTS test, ensuring that your test preparation approach remains unchanged. This saves you time by eliminating the need to attempt the remaining three skills.
After successfully completing the IELTS One Skill Retake, you will be provided with a fresh IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) that incorporates your score for the retaken skill, in addition to the scores from your original performance.
You have the option to choose between using the new or old TRF. Your other test scores from your original performance will remain unaffected, instilling complete confidence as you approach your IELTS One Skill Retake test.
How soon can I retake IELTS exam?
To be eligible to book the IELTS One Skill Retake test, you must meet the following criteria:
- You have recently completed a full IELTS on computer test and received your results from an eligible IELTS test centre. This means the test centre must offer the IELTS One Skill Retake option.
- You are willing to take your IELTS One Skill Retake test within 60 days of attempting the full IELTS test.
- Please note that currently, the IELTS One Skill Retake is only available at selected test centres in Australia. However, it will soon be expanded to more test centres worldwide.
