Can We Reschedule IELTS Exam?
You have the flexibility to postpone your test date before the exam, but please note that depending on how close it is to the test day, your transfer request may be treated as a cancellation.
If you wish to transfer, you must choose a new test date within three months of your original test date, provided it is available. However, if your preferred test date falls more than three months after your original test date, the transfer will be considered a cancellation.
It’s important to keep in mind that you can only transfer your booking once.
Preparing for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam requires dedication and thoroughness. However, unexpected circumstances can sometimes arise, making it necessary to postpone the exam date.
This article aims to provide guidance on the possibility of postponing an IELTS exam and the procedures involved.
How Can I Cancel My IELTS Exam?
To delay the exam, certain criteria must be met. Only applications to reschedule the exam to a later date will be considered if the requested date is at least 15 days after the submission of the postponement request, accompanied by valid reasons.
However, if the transfer or cancellation request is made at least 34 days prior to the test date, no reasons need to be provided. Before initiating the refund process, administrative charges will be deducted, and the refund itself will be initiated within 10 working days.
Here is the essential information regarding rescheduling or canceling your IELTS test:
You will be eligible for a refund, less an administration fee, if you reschedule or cancel your application at least five (5) weeks before the test date.
However, if you choose to reschedule or cancel within five (5) weeks of the test date, the full fee will be charged unless you have a valid medical reason.
You will get a refund if you submit a medical certificate within five (5) days of the test date, but the local administrative fee will be charged.
For the most up-to-date details on this process, it is recommended to contact your test centre.
Emergency reasons and documents for proof:
- Bereavement of a close family member.
- Unforeseen emergency occurring on the exam day before the candidate could depart from home.
- Experienced a crime while en route to the test center.
- Involved in an accident on the way to the test venue.
- Lost passport while traveling to the test center.
- Encountered difficulties in traveling due to protests, violence, or a similar situation.
IELTS Rechecking Fees
If test takers are unsatisfied with their IELTS results, they have the option to request a recheck of their scores. However, in order to utilize this facility, they are required to pay an IELTS rechecking fee.
In India, the IELTS rechecking fee is INR 11,625. To initiate the re-marking process, test takers must submit the ‘Enquiry on Results Form’ (EOR Form). They have the flexibility to select specific parts of the IELTS test or multiple parts for remarking.
It is important to note that if a test taker’s result is revised to a higher band score as a result of the recheck, they will receive a full refund of the rechecking fee.
